Américo Mateus, professor of Design at ISMAT, participated in another meeting of the European Commission Task Force – Co-creation of Nature-Based-Solutions

Professor Américo Mateus, Lecturer of the Communication Design Course, co-director of the Master in Design for the Circular Economy and Head of Research of TRIE research center, participated in the meeting of the group of experts on European Nature-based projects -Solutions that took place on the 29th of September in the European Commission’s Covent Garden building in Brussels.

This group / task force is responsible for producing a book of good practices and a platform to support decision-making on co-creation processes in projects linked to Nature-Based-Solutions.

The meeting was led by the Project Advisor of the REA (research executive agency of the EU), Piret Noukas, and was attended by experts from 6 European projects within the scope of the NBS.

We had the opportunity to hear first-hand the strategic priorities of the European Commission, in this context, especially the framework and alignment of the NBS (Nature-Based-Solutions) with the objectives and vision for Cities: Green, Productive and Just City.

Once again our ISMAT ensino lusófona Master of Design for the Circular Economy is perfectly aligned with this objective of the EU, through its Dimensions: Human Dimension, Nature Dimension, Socio-Cultural Dimension and Economic Dimension.

In a region like the Algarve, it will only be possible to diversify the region’s economy and Industry if it is based on these pillars, so we believe that the region’s governance institutions, as well as all economic and social agents, should benefit from our applied studies and projects.
