TRIE Head of Research, Américo Mateus, was invited speaker of EU NetworkNature annual conference in Brussels

Américo Mateus, Lecturer of Design at ISMAT, was invited speaker at the NetworkNature Annual Conference in Brussels

On the 27th of September, Professor Américo Mateus, lecturer of the Communication Design Course, co-director of the Masters in Design for the Circular Economy at ISMAT and Head of the Research Group for Lusófona Education TRIE, was one of the guest speakers of the European Commission’s annual NetworkNature conference.

He presented the strategic and operational plan for the Nature-Based-Solutions HUB Portugal, of which he is the current director and which will hold its first launch action for the NBS HUB Portugal in Portimão.

It was an excellent opportunity to hear from three of the main directors of the REA, Research & Innovation EU Commission: Gilles Doignon – Director General of RTD (EU policy on research, science and innovation); Martin Grisel Director of EU KN (Knowledge Networks) and Luisa Samarelli Director of DG ENV (EU policy on the environment).

Once again, we have the clear idea that our Master of Design for the Circular Economy is in the state-of-the-art of European strategies for the green transition and for a positive Economy of Nature, which are based on three axes: Solutions based on Nature , Circular Economy practices and Bioeconomy practices.

It is important that the Algarve region understands that our training is vital so that all the financing opportunities for the transformation that are being created in the EU can be taken advantage of by our cities, businesses and entrepreneurs.
